Abstract: An electroencephalogram (EEG) is often corrupted by different types of artifacts. Many efforts have been made to enhance its quality by reducing the artifact. The EEG contains the technical artifacts (noise from the electricity, amplitude artifact, etc.) and biological artifacts (eye artifacts, EKG and EMG artifacts). This paper is aimed to eye-blinking artifact detection from the video which is recorded with EEG data simultaneously. Detection of eye artifacts is not a simple way and therefore there are many efforts to find out optimal method for eye artifact detection or in better case its elimination. For example the method of Independent Component Analysis (ICA) or artificial neural network was used for this purpose. In this article is described a detection method based on image processing and a artifact elimination by using ICA.

Abstract: The presented work concerns application of modern, complex programmable hardware devices in computation biology. The Xilinx Virtex 5 with PCI-Express interface has been used to implement the searching algorithm based on the dynamic programming idea. This algorithm works on very long chains of symbols, which come from reference pattern of the genome and we try to find some query sequences within those chains. The software solutions in the field are very limited and they need large time and space resources, so we have decided to implement the entire system on the reconfigurable hardware platform. We have investigated some variants of the implementation taking into account available resources, properties of the hardware and possibilities of parallel processing and increasing the overall system performance. The results we have obtained are very promising and show the dominance of the dedicated platforms over the general purpose PC-based systems.

Abstract: This paper describes a technique for timestamping data from an array of sensors. This is a challenging issue that needs to be solved for the magnetometry-based navigation system presented here. This system uses finite difference schemes to evaluate spatial and time derivatives of a vector field. The accuracy of the timestamping method is critical. In the context of this particular application, we detail the various difficulties that must be circumvented. We present a software architecture, which was run on an experimental device.

Abstract: The paper deals with problematic of Thermal Response Test (TRT) system. The correct design of borehole heat exchangers for ground source heat pumps and the knowledge of rock massive thermal properties is paramount. For small heat pumps systems these parameters are estimated. However, for larger objects the thermal conductivity should be measured on site. Thermal Response Test is an useful tool for thermal conductivity estimation. This test is instrumental to find out a response of rock massive in which a heat pump might be installed. The paper describes basic principles of TRT and its utilization for heat pump boreholes design.

Abstract: The paper deals with design of field-programmable gate array (FPGA) devices for model reference adaptive control of sensorless permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive. The FPGA design comprises of solution of three difference equations of PMSM quantities, so far. The paper is focused on FPGA application part, since whole drive is controlled by DSP processor. The basic simulation experiments results and comparison of FPGA and DSP solution are given on the end of paper.

Abstract: The contribution deals with an interesting technology for purposes of industrial automation. The Virtual Automation Networks (VAN) technology is an advanced Ethernet-based industrial communication system which much better corresponds to requirements of industry than all existing Industrial Ethernets. It enables an effective cooperation of public and private networks with a stress on security, safety and real-time properties. It solves also problems with implementation of different wireless technologies into heterogeneous communication structure of distributed industrial automation systems. Virtual Automation Networks project is under development in one of the integrated projects of the 6th Framework Program. Authors present main problems of the virtual automation network as architecture, technological platform, network topology and device profiles in an overview. Finally, principal questions of the name-based routing, and OpenVPN tunneling is explained.

Abstract: Paper deals with industrial realization of feedback control of demanding applications on their control, control algorithms and visualization together with design, implementation and real time control from MATLAB/Simulink Environment. Paper shows direct connection and implementation way of designed control schemas of prepared applications to an industrial WinPLC. Described is a way to produce a permanent solution in control applications that are fully prepared, designed and implemented directly from MATLAB/Simulink to the target control platform. As a part, the mentioned solution is using a multiplatform control system REX as a bridge between MATLAB and target platforms. These methods allow minimizing costs of development of control of applications, because it produces target permanent realizations in comparison to classical development methods that usually need expensive real time measurement cards and produce only one purpose development solution.
