Abstract
The existence of a variety of types of formal cognitive maps with corresponding theoretical models makes urgent the problem of their systematization for the purpose of comparative analysis of ability of various types of maps at the solution of applied problems and development of unified theory of formal maps, when and if it is possible. The lack of general theory of cognitive maps, orientation of many known models exclusively on simulation, insufficient clearness of semantics of some models, already today lead to incorrect statements and solutions of applied problems on the basis of cognitive maps. For the unified approach to the description of semantics of known types of formal cognitive maps the general parametrical model of semantics of functional cognitive maps is developed. The model has covered the major part of known types of formal cognitive maps and their variations. Efficiency of the proposed approach to systematization is shown on the representative set of types of formal cognitive maps.
